Footnotes:
1. Ulric's second wife. See the footnote for Ulric.
2. In The Crystal Gryphon it is mentioned that Ulric "…had taken two ladies before my mother and had of them children. But the children had been either born dead or had quitted this world in their early years, sickly creatures one and all. He had sworn, however, to get him a true, heir, and so he set aside his second lady in favor of my mother when it seemed as if he would get no son of her." His first wife died in childbirth and the name of his second wife was Elva, as told in Of the Shaping of Ulm's Heir.
3. In a way, Kerovan has 3 fathers. With her spells, Lady Tephana attempted to have Galkur possess Ulric while they were conceiving Kerovan which gave Kerovan cloven feet however, this awoke Landisl who became Kerovan's spiritual father, giving him amber eyes.
4. In The Crystal Gryphon she is mentioned as widowed (p 25). In Heir Apparent it is mentioned that her first husband was her cousin and was heir to the House of Fortal (even though Fortal is the name of her father in The Crystal Gryphon (p 26).) Her husband, however, has brothers who want to rule instead (p 27). It is mentioned that both of Lady Tephana's parents died in a plague shortly after her birth.
5. Rogear is "cousin-kin" to Kerovan p.16 The Crystal Gryphon. He's from the Lady Tephana's side of the family.
