Synopsis:
Jommy is a boy hiding in the village masquerading as a girl for the Falconer’s would kill him because of a twisted and mangled foot. As he comes of age he falls in love with his foster-sister Jorra and they become a couple. Jorra’s lot is up and must report to Falconer’s to be implanted with a baby, only she is pregnant by Jommy. The Falconer who is to make a baby in her realizes she is already pregnant and kills her. Jommy swears vengeance and goes on the hunt, but he kills the wrong Falconer and must go into hiding. Over the years he becomes known as “The Wise Weaver on the Mountain.”
Timeline Points:
Set in a Falconers Women's Village.
- p181. Jommy calls upon Jonkara (and she answers!) placing this before Falcon Blood.
- p184 There in an "abbey" in the closest town to the Falconer women's Village. They worship Gunnora. A guardsman calls them "Dames". Um… not sure where to start with this one…1
- p190. The Turning. It seems this Falconer women's village is close enough to the Estcarp border that it didn't need to be evacuated and wasn't damaged by the Turning. Edit: In We the Women we learn that 3 witches were sent to this village to protect the Falconer women from the Turning instead of evacuating them for some reason. This is similar to what they did in Old Toad to protect a Gate in the border mountains.
Later, Seven & a half years have passed.
Footnotes:
1. Abbeys are found in the Dales of High Hallack (not Estcarp) where Dames venerate the Flame (not Gunnora). What an "abbey" of Gunnora worshiping Dames is doing just inside the Estcarp border is unexplainable.
