Synopsis:

Aden is a scholar studying the art of healing at the library of Lormt a place built by the Old Race. Her brother Jerro came to visit her three day earlier and had arranged to meet with her two days ago for dinner, only he never showed up. He had never not shown up before without sending message as to why. He was missing but he had to be somewhere in this vast building. And so she went on the hunt looking in every room and corner. Way in the back of the building she found a lone room at the end of very long and dusty hall. In it was very large mirror glass that attracted her. When she looked straight in it she saw her image but with her brothers face. He was trapped and she had to use all her knowledge to get him out.

Set in Lormt1

  1. p136. Aden- a resident of Lormt & woman of the Old Race of Estcarp.
  2. p137. She has a brother named Jerro who visits Lormt irregularily. She can't find him.
  3. p139. Ouen present as an old man - before the Turning. Aden's teacher. Animals, plants, the working of nature and healing fascinate Aden. She was born in the village just outside Lormt.
  4. p140. Aden loves reading about Gunnora.
  5. p141. 'Three long, weary hours went by…' she stops for a break in her search.
  6. p142. Aden is a year older than her brother but he'd take the lead. When she was 8 their cousins dared them to go into Lormt. That's when they met Ouen.
  7. p143. Jerro had arrived 3 days before.
  8. p144. Aden discovered a bronze amulet of Gunorra during her first week of service in Lormt.
  9. p145. In an oppressive hallway she finds and full length mirror and discovers Jerro is trapped within it.
  10. p147. Aden uses the stones in the amulet of Gunnora to cut the glass of the mirror.
  11. p148. Jerro is released from the mirror.
  12. p149. Aden shatters the remains of the mirror.

Footnotes:
1. On p.207 of Falcon Hope Aden mentions the events of this story to Tarlach as having occurred "this last spring". Since she probably means spring of the same year (it being winter there), this story would take place eight years after the Turning.
