The Outling
~ A Short Story by Andre Norton
Synopsis ~
Herta the village healer finds a woman in need of her help; the woman dies after bearing a child which Herta vows to protect. Brairy the child is different but even-so accepted by the village. Until the day plague visits and Brairy is forced to make the choice of life or death.
