Synopsis ~

Kara under a spell she cannot explain is drawn thru the Ithkar Fair to the tent of a reptile dealer. There she buys an ugly beast that the others of her clan claim is full of evil and deceit. What she finds is unexpected by all – except those that seek the beast.

 

Write-up from a fan ~

A young girl of Quintka Blood, with her group of animal entertainers, comes with her company of merchants and other entertainers to Ithkar Fair.  While on their first excursion through the Fair, she detects a distress signal from one who is being held in bondage and being offered for sale at an animal trader’s booth.  At least, that's how it first appears.  After purchasing the distressed animal, she finds that the "trader" is actually a priest of a black religion, Thotharn, and the "animal" is actually a bespelled man and was intended for another purchaser who would use it/him as a spy. Almost a precursor of Maelen of Moon of Three Rings ~ SL
