It’s a time after the Turning and rebuilding is underway. Mereth a lady of Lormt, mute and lacking the Old Talent of Mind-Touch, discovers a frightening scene in a field. As the people of Lormt try to solve the mystery trouble breaks out among the villagers. Mereth rescues one of the villagers and brings her into Lormt. This leads to a battle with an evil from below, and Mereth gains a great gift.
